History of International Day of Non-Violence in India
Once in Paris, a Hindi teacher was sharing his knowledge on a world social forum in Mumbai. While teaching and addressing some international students, he inspired Shirin Ebadi, an Iranian Nobel laureate. In January 2004, he suggested a proposal to mark the International Day of Non-Violence.
In January 2007, the leaders of the Congress Party of India also took interest and showed support to adopt the idea by calling upon the United Nations.
