Sankranti marks the transmigration of the Sun from one zodiac (sign, AKA Rashi) to the next. The migration is the movement of the planetary shift. The meaning and significance of Sankranti are associated with the ‘sacred changes’ and ‘auspicious muhurta.

System of Sankranti Dates

In India, the Sankranti calendar system differs in some states or regions. Some people celebrate each Sankranti as the beginning of the month as per the solar calendar; they are from- Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala.
